Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) and working in collaboration with the Office of Human Resources, the Diversity Recruitment and Retention Specialist will be a forward-thinking, dynamic professional with the ability to lead institutional employee recruitment and retention efforts. In support of the College's commitment to inclusive excellence, this position is responsible for implementing strategies and structures that capitalize on the benefits of a diverse and vibrant workforce. Committing to the values of the Strategic Plan, the desired candidate will be essential to college-wide efforts focused on Building a Better Brockport.
Major Responsibilities
Recruitment



  • Develops all aspects of the strategic diversity recruitment initiative, to include: identifying advertising venues; assisting with the development of policies and programs to attract, retain and promote a diverse workforce for the College; managing referrals; ensuring AA/EEO compliance; and interpreting Department of Labor, SUNY and other regulatory agencies policies and procedures.

  • Identifies recruiting opportunities by researching new sources for talent, cultivating relationships with internal talent as well as external industry professionals, and networking with other universities and non-profit organizations. Utilizes various recruitment sourcing strategies such as social media, e-recruiting, online databases, employee referrals, networks, etc. May attend conferences and job fairs to network and source talent.

  • Develops and implement special diversity recruitment plans and metrics for measuring the plan's effectiveness.

  • Determines the appropriateness of introducing diversity initiatives and, in conjunction with College leadership, considers the unique needs of each organizational department or office.

  • Works with hiring managers to develop strategic recruitment plans. Assists hiring managers with the identification of strategies for targeting diverse audiences or additional sources. Provides a high level of customer service in consulting with and guiding hiring managers in comprehensive recruitment and staffing issues, policies, and processes.

  • Assists with the diversity planning efforts and reporting process.

  • Utilizes broad market knowledge to network creatively in order to build, manage and maintain a pipeline of qualified and diverse talent.

  • Provides reporting on key sourcing and recruiting metrics by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends for continuous improvement.

  • Ensures diversity/work life and inclusion topics are a part of routine Human Resources communications.

  • Serves on search committees.


Onboarding/Retention



  • Identifies opportunities and develops efforts to foster employee engagement of new hires.

  • Works collaboratively with the Office of Human Resources to support the socialization and engagement of new employees, with particular focus on the first year experience.

  • Communicates and distributes Brockport Cultural Resource Guides, and utilizes of Office of Diversity Online Cultural Toolkits as cultural community engagement resources.

  • Collects institutional data (Institutional Research) annually to benchmark measures of progress/regress of diversity metrics reflected among faculty and staff populations.

  • Works collaboratively with the Office of Human Resources and Academic Affairs to establish and implement a Faculty/Staff Mentor Program by pairing experienced faculty/staff with new hire employees and by providing guidance, feedback and modeling of best practice behaviors for respective positions.

  • Collects six (6) month and one (1) year follow-up surveys to employees hired within 1st year annual cohort timeline, collecting feedback on institutional experience and improvement strategies at each benchmark.


Professional Development



  • Engages in appropriate professional development programs to remain current in the field and to be able to advise employees accurately.


Other



  • Works with highly confidential and sensitive information. Must ensure employee privacy and confidentiality is maintained to the extent possible.

  • Works collaboratively with the Office of the President, the Academic Affairs Division, and the Office of Human Resources for the attainment of strategies listed within the College at Brockport Faculty/Staff Diversity Recruitment & Retention Plan.

  • Serves on various committees as needed.

  • Attends a minimum of two college-wide events per academic year.


Required Qualifications



  • Master's degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.

  • Knowledge of diversity initiatives obtained through academic coursework or professional work experience.

  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem solving skills.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and proven record of personal integrity.

  • Ability to travel often and work a moderately flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Doctorate degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.

  • Experience with professional or student recruitment.

  • Experience with Department of Labor rules, laws, and procedures or human resources experience in the public sector and/or higher education.

  • Ability to be creative, flexible, self-motivated and customer service.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
