The Rochester Educational Opportunity Center (REOC), part of The College at Brockport, and located in downtown Rochester invites applications for the Admissions Staff Assistant. The REOC delivers comprehensive, community-based academic and workforce development programs and provides support services leading to enhanced employment opportunities, access to further education, personal growth and development.
The Admissions Staff Assistant is responsible for assisting students with applying to and registering for REOC programs. The Admissions Staff Assistant provides academic advisement, processes application documents, attends recruitment events, and provides back up support for the front desk in the Admissions Office.
Major Responsibilities
+ Review applications and collect documents to determine eligibility for Admissions.
+ Provide academic advisement to applicants regarding programs and services.
+ Assist students through application and registration process.
+ Deliver presentations and attend REOC recruitment events to market and promote programs to prospective students.
+ Answer and return applicant telephone calls.
+ Create application status reports and follow up with applicants regarding status of their application and missing documents.
+ Process and notify applicants of TABE and CREST test results.
+ Create and mail student registration letters.
+ Input and complete on-going admissions related data for enrollment reporting.
+ Work one evening per week - Occasionally work on weekends.
+ Provide backup coverage for Admissions Front Desk.
+ Complete assigned special projects at direction of the Director of Student Services and Admissions Coordinator.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, Human Services or a related field from an accredited US Department of Education college or university or and internationally recognized institution; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience working with culturally diverse populations; ability to compose and write concise, error-free documents; and, effective interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and collegially with faculty, staff and students.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to work as a part of a team; ability to multi-task in a busy office environment; experience with Banner data base; and, bi-lingual.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
