Assistant Professor - Interpersonal Communication Job no: 494153 Position Type: Faculty (Full-Time) Location: Brockport Division/Equivalent: Academic Affairs School/Unit: Communication Categories: Faculty Assistant Professor of Interpersonal Communication The College at Brockport The Communication Department at The College at Brockport, State University of New York is seeking an exceptional teacher and dedicated scholar with expertise in Interpersonal Communication who values openness to various methodologies and to intersections among different areas of the discipline.
This full-time, 10 month, tenure-track position is available August 2019.
Major Responsibilities Teach three courses each semester across the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Primary teaching areas include courses related to interpersonal communication, group leadership, and quantitative research methods, with the possibility to develop courses in other areas related to interpersonal communication, such as mediated, family, health, intercultural, or sports.
The department expects successful candidates to establish a record of on-going scholarship.
Departmental and college service such as student advising, mentoring, and other service activities are expected.
Required Qualifications Doctorate in Communication or related field from an accredited US Department of Education or internationally recognized college or university.
ABD candidates will be considered and must earn their doctorate within 6 months of hire.
Expertise in interpersonal communication and quantitative research methods.
Demonstrated evidence of successful teaching and the ability to teach interpersonal communication courses.
Demonstrated ability for research and scholarly activities.
Ability to teach a culturally diverse student population.
Preferred Qualifications Scholarship that has the potential for practical applications Ability to work with colleagues reflecting a variety of approaches to communication research Department Description The Department of Communication houses approximately 200 undergraduate majors and minors, a graduate program, and six current full-time faculty members.
The Department's recently redesigned undergraduate curriculum features three concentrations: Relationships and Social Identity, Leadership and Civic Engagement, and Influence and Persuasion.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
